Dentistry with Anesthesia
Sleep Dentistry is a form of deep sedation using multiple medications and sedatives though an intravenous catheter for dental treatment. Patients are comfortably asleep throughout the procedure.
Intravenous (IV) sedation dentistry is a form of conscious sedation. Patients under IV sedation are not actually sleeping as they remain conscious and able to respond throughout the procedure. IV sedation dentistry induces moderate relaxation and produce either partial or full memory loss, which sometimes can make patients feel like they were asleep. It is noted that not all patients respond adequately to IV moderate sedation and can instead be distressful.
